Trump Just Picked A Date For His Military Parade That Will Infuriate You

As if he is in some kind of competition to become a parody of a cartoon dictator, President Trump is insisting on a full military parade. You know, the kind thrown by military juntas.

He was apparently very impressed by the Bastille Day parade he saw in France, and knew that he just had to had a parade of his very own:

‘“It was one of the greatest parades I’ve ever seen,” President Donald Trump told reporters, two months after he witnessed the celebration of Bastille Day in Paris on July 14. “It was military might.” he added.

‘“We’re going to have to try to top it,” he apparently joked to French President Emmanuel Macron, who was sitting nearby. But it was no joke.’

Clearly, Trump has not been swayed by the enormously negative reaction to this idea since the media began reporting on his wishes. According to POLITICO:

‘The president has directed the Department of Defense to organize a parade that would take place on Nov. 11 – Veterans Day – according to an unclassified Feb. 20 memo written by National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster.’

The scheduled date of the parade showcases one of Donald Trump’s incredible talent for complete lack of irony and self-awareness.

Though this was previously dismissed as just another one of Trump’s ridiculous ideas, this parade seems to be well on its way to being reality, even though it is incredibly unpopular with Americans:

‘American voters disapprove 61 – 26 percent of President Donald Trump’s plan for a military parade. Every listed party, gender, education, age and racial group disapproves except Republicans, who approve 58 – 24 percent.

‘And voters say 75 – 18 percent, including 52 – 37 percent among Republicans, that the estimated $10 million to $30 million to pay for the parade is not a good use of government funds.’
