It’s been said that there are two certainties in life–death and taxes. Since the 2016 election we can add one more certainty to that list–we can always count on bad news hitting the airwaves about Donald Trump. His failing administration consistently loses people, Trump makes a lot of verbal faux pas, his people get charged with crimes, some of his people plead guilty to those crimes, and his alleged collusion is becoming more apparent with every passing day.

Today brought more bad news for Trump when it was announced that Stephanie Clifford, AKA Stormy Daniels, has already recorded an interview for CBS’s 60 Minutes. The interview was conducted by Anderson Cooper and will be broadcast in the near future.

For those who have had their head stuck in the sand, or only watch Fox News, Daniels is the former porn star that Trump allegedly slept with back in 2006, while Trump’s pregnant wife Melania was back in New York. While Donald denies that affair ever happened, Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, paid Daniels hush money to the tune of $130,000 to keep quiet about the alleged affair, and had her sign a nondisclosure agreement. Trump also claims to know nothing about any payments his attorney made to Clifford.

This week Clifford file a lawsuit against Donald Trump claiming the nondisclosure agreement is void because Trump never signed it. Wednesday Anderson Cooper interviewed Clifford’s attorney, Michael Avenatti, on CNN’s AC360 to get his take on the suit and the nondisclosure agreement.

‘That agreement is null and void. It doesn’t mean anything.’

As far as Trump claiming that he knows nothing about the hush money Avenatti said,

‘The idea that somehow President Trump didn’t know anything about this and that Attorney Cohen was just running off and doing what he thought was best without any consultation with President Trump, it is patently absurd.’

Avenatti’s assertion that Trump knew nothing is patently absurd. First why would Trump’s attorney simply give Clifford $130,000, supposedly right out of his own pocket, if the affair never happened? Second why wouldn’t Cohen mention the payment to Trump? A more plausible explanation would be that Trump had the affair, then got worried that the religious right would find out about it, and instructed his attorney to pay Clifford the money to keep her quiet right before the election. But like so many other Trump failures, he forgot to sign the agreement which would have given it legal standing. Now his failure to do what is right might come back to bite him big time.

Because if Clifford’s lawsuit is successful she’ll be free to tell the world all about the alleged affair, and apparently there’s nothing Trump could do to stop it. One has to wonder though whether Trump’s attorney will be making another payment to Clifford before the 60 Minutes interview ever airs. If the interview gets thrown in the trash can and never airs I guess we’ll have our answer. But I bet it will cost a lot more than $130,000 to buy Clifford’s silence this time.
