All is not well in Trump World, and not just because of the ever increasing scrutiny placed on the Trump administration because of the Russia scandal. Neither is it just because the president is facing a lawsuit from adult film star Stormy Daniels, who alleges a nondisclosure agreement she signed covering an alleged relationship with the president is invalid because he never signed it.
Outside of the allegation that the president had an affair with Stormy Daniels, he’s long fielded issues related to his interpersonal relationships, with him currently on his third wife, Melania. Outside of his relationships, he’s also been credibly alleged to have sexually harassed and/or assaulted numerous women.
In other words, Donald Trump isn’t exactly a model of how you want to relate to other people. This time, though, the reported issues are with his son, Donald Trump Jr.
According to Page Six, he and his wife Vanessa are headed for divorce, although they haven’t formally initiated the proceedings yet. The outlet bases its reporting on the testimony of friends of the couple, some of whom say “they expect the couple to file [for divorce] soon,” explaining that “they have been living separate lives.”
As one source for Page Six put it:
‘The problems have been there for a long time, the couple had hoped to stay together during the president’s time in office, but it is getting harder to resolve their issues. He’s never there.’
Another source described the situation to Page Six by saying:
‘Don Jr. has been busy traveling, which has contributed to their problems. Vanessa is a devoted mother, but she is increasingly lonely and alone in the house with the children.’
Donald Trump Jr. has indeed carried on with extensive traveling in recent weeks and months, stopping, for example, in India in February for a business conference.
Besides the issues with him being gone all the time, sources speaking to Page Six also reveal that another issue that’s been raised in Trump Jr.’s interpersonal circles is his tweeting. In other words, no, it’s not just us — meaning much of the general American population — when it comes to the perception that Donald Trump Jr.’s tweeting habit seems to indicate him being unhinged. He takes after his father in that regard.
Among the high points of concern in Donald Trump Jr.’s social media history is the recent time he liked tweets attacking one of the survivors of last month’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida, along with the time he liked a tweet linking antidepressants to mass shootings.
On top of these alleged issues, Vanessa is reportedly concerned with the increased scrutiny that’s been placed on her family in the aftermath of her father-in-law’s ascent to power. Connected to that light they’ve been placed under, she opened a letter last month that contained a threat and white powder.
Although the powder was eventually deemed to not be hazardous, she was initially taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Only time will tell if the two of them really do break up, but if they do, it won’t be the first divorce gone through with in the shadow of the Trump administration. (It’s worth noting that one source speaking to Page Six said they don’t believe the couple to be headed for divorce.)
One-time White House Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci’s wife filed for divorce last year in the face of her husband’s “naked ambition.”
