McCabe Drops Memo Bombshell That Has Trump’s Lawyers Scrambling – Prepare For War

You’d think that the president would have learned last year that someone getting fired wouldn’t solve his problems. Last May, he abruptly fired FBI Director James Comey in a move that he quickly made clear he carried out with the Russia investigation in mind.

Although he proved his interest in seeing that investigation concluded time and time again, after Comey’s firing, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed Special Counsel Robert Mueller to oversee the Russia investigation.

Mueller has so far brought charges against four former Trump associates, although three of them have flipped and are cooperating with his investigation.

Even still, it seems as though the president is still stuck in reality television mode and sees people getting fired as the path to his success.

Late Friday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions fired Deputy Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe. The president quickly moved to praise McCabe’s dismissal on Twitter, writing that it was a “great day for Democracy,” since McCabe allegedly infected the bureau with corruption.

That’s not the end of the president’s problems, however. The Associated Press is now reporting that, just like fired FBI Director James Comey, McCabe kept memos detailing his interactions with the president.

According to the outlet:

‘Andrew McCabe… kept personal memos regarding President Donald Trump. That’s according to a person with direct knowledge of the situation… This person says the memos are similar to the ones maintained by former FBI Director James Comey, who Trump fired last May.’

McCabe’s personal memos reportedly include “other topics” besides the former FBI Deputy Director’s interactions with the president.

Comey’s memos covered alleged interactions that have attracted a high prominence since they were first reported upon. Among the topics included in the memos from Comey is an alleged instance in which the president sought to pressure him into dropping the line of inquiry into Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn.

Trump interceding on his behalf didn’t prove fruitful for Flynn, who eventually pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI and is now cooperating with Mueller.

McCabe is reported to have testified late last year in a private House Intelligence Committee hearing that Comey briefed him on Trump’s alleged efforts to see the Flynn investigation ended soon after the Trump/Comey interaction on the matter took place. McCabe also indicated he could corroborate Comey’s claim that during a dinner last January, the president had asked him for “loyalty.”

McCabe insists that his corroboration of James Comey’s account drove his eventual firing.

As CNN reports he commented:

‘Here is the reality: I am being singled out and treated this way because of the role I played, the actions I took, and the events I witnessed in the aftermath of the firing of James Comey. The OIG’s focus on me and this report became a part of an unprecedented effort by the Administration, driven by the President himself, to remove me from my position, destroy my reputation, and possibly strip me of a pension that I worked 21 years to earn.’

McCabe’s reference to a report from the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General refers to an allegation against him from internal investigators that he “misled” them “about his role in directing other officials at the FBI to speak to the Wall Street Journal about his involvement in a public corruption investigation into the Clinton Foundation,” as CNN explains it.
