General Mattis’ Harsh Smack-Talk About John Bolton Leaks To Media; Trump’s W.H. In Peril

Donald Trump likes to brag about being a really good businessman. For such a good businessman, he sure has trouble hiring good people. It seems as if he just fills a hat with people’s names then picks one out and hires them. He doesn’t take into account whether they’re fit, experienced, or even capable of doing the job he hires them for.

Take his pick for National Security Advisor for example. He chose noted war hawk John Bolton, who is a throwback from the George W. Bush days, to replace the current National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster. People who never want to see the U.S. go to war again are rightfully concerned about Bolton. Apparently, even some of Trump’s top advisors are not happy about Trump choosing Bolton.

Secretary of Defense James Mattis

Secretary of Defense James “Mad Dog” Mattis told colleagues that he was unsure if he could even work with John Bolton, as reported by the New York Times. He’s also an unpopular choice with White House Chief of Staff John Kelly too. But Trump doesn’t care what they think. He tweeted that Bolton will take over for McMaster on April 9th.

For those who don’t remember John Bolton, he served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations during the Bush administration, then as the under Secretary of State in the lead up to the war in Iraq. According to the New York Times article, Michael McFaul, the American ambassador to Moscow under President Barack Obama, had this to say about Bolton;

“He’s very clear that there should be regime change in Iran and North Korea, and military force should be used to achieve those goals. If you hire him, you’re making a clear signal that’s what you want.”

Having a person like John Bolton advise Donald Trump on matters of war could lead to some very tense situations in the very near future.
