After the 60 Minutes interview heard ’round the world, Trump decided to spread some fake news and then complain about more fake news. He did not acknowledge the interview that has earned him the nickname “Spanky,” although Twitter will not let him forget.
For a man who cannot even properly spell “counsel,” the word “voluminous” as part of his morning Twitter tantrum was a laughable attempt at looking intelligent. Perhaps Trump should rewind and look at the “fake news” from 2008-2016, when Trump himself rose in the political spotlight by spreading fake, racist alarm over President Obama’s birth certificate, which Trump insisted was a fake and that “reliable sources” told him should actually say that Obama had been born in Kenya instead of Hawaii. He may not be willing to acknowledge that ridiculousness now, but no one has forgotten.
He also repeatedly says how wonderful the economy has done under his presidency, although he was handed a thriving economy by his predecessor. Since economists agree that the first year of a presidential term is influenced most heavily by the outgoing president’s policies, any gains made should only be counted by the past six weeks. Unlike Obama, who inherited a failing economy that was hemorrhaging jobs, Trump has made none of the massive gains his predecessor did, although he will never, ever admit that.
