The president is continuing this week with his long tradition of using Twitter to make important policy and personnel announcements. Keep that in mind the next time he tweets something incendiary — his posts are statements from the president of the United States, not just innocent airings of grievances.
This Wednesday, he added another name to the list of administration officials to have their imminent departure revealed via Twitter.
Yet again confirming reports from the media that he so loves to attack as “Fake News!”, the president revealed on Wednesday that he would be replacing VA Secretary David Shulkin with Admiral Ronny L. Jackson, MD, who doubles as the one to have performed the president’s most recent physical.
Shulkin has been mired in controversy recently. A report from the inspector general overseeing his department revealed that the VA Secretary had misused both government time and resources in connection to a trip he took overseas last year. His already departed chief of staff was accused of having doctored an email in order to obtain funding for Shulkin’s wife to travel, and in addition, the VA Secretary — whose departure from his position seems to be immediate — was found to have had one of his staffers act effectively as a travel guide for him and his wife.
Other Trump officials to have their departures revealed via Twitter recently include Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and the president’s national security adviser, H.R. McMaster.
