Comedian and film star Jim Carrey is well-known for films such as “The Cable Guy” and “Dumb and Dumber.” However, what many people don’t know is that he has spent the last several years painting and has turned out an array of interesting pieces. Lately, his pieces have become increasingly political. On Friday, he revealed his most recent painting via Twitter – a portrait of the 45th president of the United States.
Dear Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery @NPG, I know it’s early but I’d like to submit this as the official portrait of our 45th President, Donald J. Trump. It’s called, 'You Scream. I Scream. Will We Ever Stop Screaming?' pic.twitter.com/LrCmlXXpv7

Carrey’s tweet received thousands of responses and here are some of them:
According to artnet.com:
‘Jim Carrey is not a man to do things by halves—at least not when it comes to his art. For the last six years, he has thrown himself into painting, working so prolifically that some might mistake his home for a museum. This weekend, the actor showcased the fruits of his labor in “Sunshower,” a solo exhibition at the Signature Gallery Group‘s Las Vegas gallery.’
About his art work, Carrey said:
‘Making art in general is not really a choice. I’m being painted and I’m being expressed and I’m being created, and there’s little me involved.’
A select few have seen Carrey’s work at home in his studio. Carrey has had visitors that included “creative people” and “big athletes,” many of whom have purchased his work. Perhaps, one of his most famous visitors was NBA player LeBron James who later tweeted admiring one of Carrey’s pieces.
Carrey is certainly making a statement though with this painting that probably resonates with the majority of Americans. We are screaming because of a nightmare and we can’t seem to ever wake up.
