More Trump administration officials can be added to the list of resigning figures. The president’s administration very much resembles the hit-reality show, The Apprentice, he starred in with the way people are being eliminated or “resigning.”

The Environmental Protection Agency saw their fourth resignation with the announcement of John Konkus’ departure. He served as the deputy associate administrator for public affairs.

Konkus’ resignation is also the second departure from the EPA’s media team. The head of the media team Liz Bowman made the news with her own resignation last week.

The Washington Post reported:

‘Konkus served as the EPA’s deputy associate administrator for public affairs. He had worked as a Republican political consultant and helped on the Trump campaign before his EPA appointment.’

White House officials are stating Konkus is moving to a position at the Small Business Administration, which means he actually would still be working in the Trump administration.

Konkus has faced scrutiny for being able to work with his own private clients, which many believe would pose a “financial conflict of interest.” One of his jobs, according to CBS News, was approving and signing off on federal grants. Indeed, it was found that while going over applications for grants, he skipped over grants that were related to climate change.

However, his resignation comes at a time that EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt is facing intense backlash and scrutiny over an unusually high amount of spending – something that Pruitt has tried to blame on his underlings. The Washington Examiner reported:

‘Pruitt, in testimony before two House committees last week, downplayed his role in various spending, hiring, and security decisions at the agency, mostly blaming career and political staff who work under him. Pruitt’s deflecting of responsibility has damaged morale among staff at EPA, sources say, and more departures of political staff are expected.’

Pruitt’s chief of staff Ryan Jackson commented on Konkus’ resignation:

‘From transition, working side by side with John as one of the “sherpas” for Administrator Pruitt’s nomination, through his work on the beachhead early at EPA, and as Deputy Associate Administrator, John has been a valuable member of the EPA communications team.

‘Administrator Pruitt is grateful for John’s service and wishes him well as he continues to serve the Trump Administration leading communications at the Small Business Administration.’

Though it doesn’t seem that big of a deal that he’s changing “departments,” with all the chaos going on at the EPA, his resignation has to be significant for some reason.

The Washington Post found disturbing trends after sources came forward claiming Pruitt had a list of travel destinations he wanted to visit. He is accused of having his aides “find official reasons to travel.” Basically, he needed a justification to take a free vacation.

His wish list reportedly included Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Panama, Poland, Japan, India, and Canada. He wanted to travel to each destination once a month.

Calls for Pruitt to step down have come from at least 170 Democrats in Congress. A mere four Republicans have called on Pruitt to step down also.
