President Donald Trump is, by all appearances, the same kind of repugnant figure behind the scenes that he is in his public appearances and statements as president. He’s a fumbling toxic racist who doesn’t know what he’s talking about, and after becoming president, it’s not as though he’s changed.
One of the individuals who has been subjected to the president’s repugnant behind the scenes behavior is tech icon Bill Gates.
MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes obtained footage of Gates sharing his personal experiences with Trump with staff members at the Gates Foundation.
Gates only met Trump after he won the 2016 presidential election.
At one point during the Gates Foundation event where he was speaking about these interactions, he shared the following incident:
‘He got elected and I went to see him in December. He knew my daughter Jennifer because Trump has this horse show thing down in Florida… So when I first talked to him, it was actually kind of scary how much he knew about my daughter’s appearance. Melinda [Gates] didn’t like that too well.’
At other points during the same remarks, Gates shared both that the man who is now president asked him at one point about potential negative effects of vaccines, sharing with the Microsoft head that he was considering starting a commission to look into the issue. Gates says he advised him against that.
On more than one occasion, in addition to that line of questioning, Gates says that the president asked him whether or not there was a difference between HIV and HPV. Gates says he explained to the president “that those were rarely confused with each other.”

Gates’ accounts of his private interactions with the president certainly match publicly available glimpses into the man’s behavior.
