Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani went to Israel this week. While there, he attracted a good deal of controversy for a whole array of comments he shared. Some of those comments were directed at adult film star Stormy Daniels, with whom President Trump allegedly had an affair some years ago. She took a place in the spotlight earlier this year after it came out that Trump lawyer Michael Cohen had paid her a large amount of hush money covering that affair, and in the time since, the president and his team members have been engaged in a multifaceted legal battle over the scandal.
Giuliani, overall, is not impressed with her or her arguments against the president. He shared derogatory remarks about Daniels while in Israel, ridiculing her for her chosen profession, and former Fox News host turned NBC host Megyn Kelly went after him because of it.
Initially, Giuliani commented in part:
‘I respect all human beings. I even have to respect criminals, but I’m sorry I don’t respect a porn star the way I respect a career woman or a woman of substance or a woman who… isn’t going to sell her body for sexual exploitation.’
Kelly, speaking on The Today Show this Thursday, responded to him by pointing out that even his own logic barely holds up, although the foundation of disrespecting women who have chosen Daniels’ profession is hardly solid to begin with. The reason Kelly brought up for that logic failing is because the president’s current wife, Melania, has a somewhat similar although distinct background.
She explained:
‘Melania Trump is classy and gorgeous and I really admire her. But she has posed adult for GQ magazine back in 2000. And so to suggest that Trump would never respect, and that Giuliani wouldn’t respect anybody whose ever sold her body for sexual exploitation — I’m not comparing the two, posing adult is not the same as being a porn star. But, come on!’
Reporter Megan Twohey phrased what Kelly was getting at in slightly different, perhaps more blunt terms, adding:
‘To do a categoric dismissal of this entire profession of women is uncalled for.’

As Twohey noted in the video above, the argument against Daniels that Giuliani made is actually something that has been raised by the president himself in the past in somewhat similar, although again distinct circumstances.
While on the campaign trail leading up to the 2016 presidential election, Trump sought to downplay allegations against him of sexual misconduct on the basis of accusers’ appearances.
The lines of attack are all a part of a broad scheme in which, inside Trump World, the president is cast as some sort of psuedo-messiah who can do no wrong.
In reality, of course, Donald Trump rose to power with little idea of what he was doing and he has remained in such a precarious position ever since. He has hardly done anything to reassure those concerned about his behavior either, and supports for what he’s accused like an infamous tape of him bragging about his supposed freedom to commit sexual assault have emerged.

Even still, for some reason, Giuliani remains deeply committed to the Trump cause.
