Republican Representative Drops Bill To Protect Reporters From Trump – Donald Is Livid

Ever since Donald Trump took over the Republican party, the entire party has acted so un-American that it’s mind blowing. They sit idly by while Trump attacks our Constitutional rights and have done nothing to protect this country from our enemies. So it’s very surprising that one Republican representative has gone against the grain of his party and proposed a bill that would actually protect our journalist’s First Amendment rights.

Ohio Representative Jim Jordan

Former Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), said that the need for a federal media shield law is very critical after Trump’s DOJ took the records of reporter Ali Watkins. The shield law he’s proposing would protect journalists from being forced by the government to turn over their records or sources. It’s the same bill that Mike Pence proposed back when he was a representative. But that was a time before Pence and his party became anti-American.

In an interview with The Hill Jordan said,

‘For me, it truly is about the Constitution. You’ve seen what the FBI was trying to do with phones and Apple encryption. You’ve seen this deal with the FBI and this reporter, Ali Watkins. All these things are examples of where government continues to encroach and violate people’s fundamental liberties.’

His bill currently has six co-sponsors and miraculously even Rep. Paul Ryan said that he’ll even support it…although he also added that he hasn’t given any thought to bringing it to the floor for a vote. Since Ryan is in charge of bringing bills to the floor, it’s certain that the proposal won’t see the light of day.

It boggles the mind how a party that used to be all about law and order, and protecting the Constitution, has done an about face and now look the other way when our rights are under attack. But who knows, maybe since a couple of them have accidentally spoken like Americans again, maybe a few others will jump on the bandwagon and do the same thing. We can only hope.
