Donald Trump’s idiotic tariffs are starting to really hurt the country, and things are only going to get worse. His trade war has already cost us Harley-Davidson and the largest nail manufacturer in the country. Now it looks like another motorcycle manufacturer will be following Harley-Davidson out the door. Minnesota-based Polaris announced yesterday that they’re considering moving some of the production of their Indian motorcycles overseas, since Trump’s trade war has made it too expensive to produce their bikes, some of which they sell in Europe.
The Associated Press reported that Polaris Industries spokeswoman Jess Rogers said that the company could be moving some of its production from northwest Iowa to Poland. This must be part of Trump’s plan to make Poland great again. Here we all thought that his main mission was to make Russia great again, but we’re now seeing that he’s spreading the wealth to other countries that don’t start with the letters U.S.A.
Polaris estimated that production costs would go up by about $15 million in 2018 because of Trump’s tariffs, but since the European Union retaliated with tariffs of their own, it would raise the price of production even further than that. Right now Polaris employs about 650 people in their Iowa Plant in Spirit Lake, but if production moves to Poland, it’s certain that some of those people will lose their jobs.
Since Iowa is in the midwest, and the midwestern states mainly voted for Trump, one has to wonder who folks in Iowa will blame for the loss of their jobs and companies. Trump will probably try to threaten Polaris to stay, but if that doesn’t work he’ll most likely try to turn the blame on Democrats. Sadly most of his low-intelligence, no common sense cult followers will believe him. But take heart…the majority of us know that Trump’s destroying American jobs and we’re fighting him every step of the way.
