Donald Trump lies more than any president we’ve ever had in our history. His lies and rhetoric have caused some serious problems in this country, including the violent kind against innocent people. Take for instance the lie he told about Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). He informed the followers in his cult at one of his ego-driven, love fests that Waters had called for protesters to harm his supporters. That was a bold face lie, and Donald Trump knows it. The result of his lie? Waters started receiving death threats from some of his whacked out, ill-informed, low-information followers.
Trump has now made a target of Maxine Waters. But she’s not hiding or bowing to those death threats. At one of the “Families Belong Together” marches today she addressed the Trump inspired death threats.
‘I know that there are those who are talking about censuring me, talking about kicking me out of Congress, talking about shooting me, talking about hanging me. All I have to say is this, if you shoot me you better shoot straight, there’s nothing like a wounded animal.’
What’s that phrase those right-wing nuts used to say about Hillary? Oh yeah…when she lies people die. Even though their phrase wasn’t true, that didn’t matter to them. But in Trump’s case when he lies people really do die. Just look at what happened at the Capital Gazette when five journalists got gunned down a couple of days ago. Trump had been lying about journalists and putting a target on their back for so long, someone finally decided to do something about it.
Not only is his rhetoric unbecoming of a U.S. president, it’s very dangerous. He has to know that what he’s saying could get someone killed, especially since most of his followers have a few screws loose. He has to stop inciting violence immediately. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but also because it’s illegal, and we don’t need a president committing even more crimes than he already has.
