When you’re part of the royal family, you’re expected to display a certain amount of graciousness in all public situations. When meeting someone, such as the recent meeting between Trump and Queen Elizabeth, you’re expected to be courteous and welcoming even if you don’t like the guy.
Queen Elizabeth managed to do just that – displaying a vast amount of courteousness that frankly, we can’t imagine being able to do.
However, even the queen isn’t perfect and likes to throw a little shade every now and then, and she did just that at their meeting.
PEOPLE reported that as part of her attire, she chose to wear a brooch that was handpicked by President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama.
‘The vintage ornament, a small green flower, was a gift from former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama during their state visit in 2011.’
Even better, it wasn’t just some gift that was picked up by an aide at the direction of the Obamas. It was handpicked by both Barack and Michelle.
‘The Obamas reportedly hand-picked the personal gift – which featured 14-karat yellow gold, diamonds and moss agate – at Washington D.C.’s Tiny Jewel Box store.’
The meeting between Trump and the queen was met with over 10,000 protesters who weren’t concerned with graciousness or etiquette.
Trump shouldn’t get carried away with his meeting or get any ideas that he’s well-liked by the queen. She has met with 12 presidents during her reign. Being that they tend to avoid controversy and do not dabble in politics, the meeting really was to be expected.
However, we’re loving it that the queen was able to work in a little shade!
