The thin-skinned, egotistical maniac in the White House just cannot take criticism. After being more critical of our allied countries than a hostile foreign government, Trump just cannot believe that he’s not being praised for it by the U.S. media.
Not only did Trump blatantly lie about his conversations with NATO leaders (no one ever agreed to pay four percent of their country’s GDP toward NATO), he is once again lying about the agreement that really was made. The goal of reaching the two percent requirement was already agreed upon in 2014 under President Obama. That agreement is available to read online and destroys Trump’s insistence that he’s somehow responsible for it.
Trump just does not seem to understand that criticizing and attacking the leaders of our allied countries while kowtowing to the leader of a hostile foreign country currently committing cyberattacks against the United States is not something that anyone is going to praise him for. Shaking confidence in NATO absolutely is good for Russia, as is Trump’s siding with Putin over our own intelligence agencies and Justice Department after 12 indictments for Russian government officials were announced.
Just like all the rest of Trump’s lies, they are mere distractions while he’s under fire for his alleged collusion with Russian government operatives to influence the 2016 presidential election in his favor. “Alleged” doesn’t even seem to fit this story anymore as Americans saw on a world stage that the current president is more than willing to bow to the country committing crimes against us.
Twitter reminded Trump of all these points and more. See some of their comments below:
