Following days of protests by thousands and thousands of people in Great Britain, Scotland, and Finland, Trump will now face protests from the people he will also face in 2020, if his presidency lasts that long: the American voters.

Outside the White House on Pennsylvania Avenue, protesters gathered to voice their opposition to President Trump after his disgusting display in Helsinki, siding with a Russian dictator currently attacking our country by cyberwarfare over his own intelligence community and justice department officials.

Sane Americans were appalled by Trump’s performance at his press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin; even Fox News and some GOP officials gave statements denouncing the president’s actions. House Speaker Paul Ryan directly criticized Trump’s refusal to acknowledge Russian election interference in 2016, but stopped short of saying that any of the leaders among his party are prepared to actually do anything about it.

The American people, however, are ready to see this inept, colluding president held accountable for his statements. Standing next to a hostile foreign leader who is attacking not only the U.S., but our allied countries as well and supporting him while saying he believes his claims of innocence is not only appalling, it borders on “high crimes and misdemeanors,” the language used in the Constitution that is required to impeach the president.

There is no longer a question about whether or not Trump colluded with Russian government operatives, he did so boldly and in full view of the American people on Monday, and all people across the world.
