Donald Trump is having a very bad week. Not only is he facing backlash even from his own party as well as his sycophants at Fox News, world leaders and is own attorney are refusing to go along with his lies and speaking out against him.
China raised tariffs on the United States because Trump raised tariffs on them. The people most hurt and affected by this has been American farmers, who Trump’s team is trying to get $12 million in subsidies for so that taxpayers could support the farmers while Trump played his trade war game.
Our allied countries are not pleased with us and are unlikely to make the deal Trump wants. His tweet about negotiations and how they work is fairly laughable considering that he has driven many of his own businesses into bankruptcy. Trump is not a great negotiator.
However, it is his tweet about Michael Cohen that is possibly the most interesting. Lawyers may not, as a common practice, tape their clients. However, if Trump had done nothing wrong and hadn’t lied repeatedly to the American people, this tape would not be such a big deal. Instead of Trump apologizing for his lies and explaining his side, he’s resorting to attacks on his former attorney, which doesn’t seem very smart considering that it’s looking more and more likely that Cohen is willing to flip on Trump.
Trump is also refusing to admit that he is responsible for those tapes being leaked. He waived attorney-client privilege when he sent Rudy Giuliani out to lie about Trump’s attempts to cover up his affairs during the campaign, which quite possibly may mean Trump committed campaign finance violations and that, even worse, he did so intentionally and with full knowledge that it was happening.
