The words that slip out of Mr. Trump’s mouth these days continue to amount to a cross between perpetual lies and blatant idiocy. Trump stopped in Pennsylvania on Thursday night for another campaign rally to throw his support around another GOP candidate, Rep. Lou Barletta, in the few months before the midterm elections.
Since Trump’s recent meeting with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, he has seized every opportunity possible to make up “fake news” about Putin and Russia. The president said:
‘In Helsinki, I had a great meeting with Putin, we discussed everything.
‘I’ll tell you what, Russia is very unhappy that Trump won, that I can tell you. But I got along great with Putin.’

Trump went on to say that the country is being “hindered” by the Russia investigation and called it a “hoax.”
Putin, however, was asked about whether he wanted Trump to win in 2016 following his meeting with Trump. Putin replied:
‘Yes, I did. Yes, I did. Because he talked about bringing the U.S.-Russia relationship back to normal.’
In fact, the White House was forced to correct the original transcript, although they did so quietly, ten days after Putin’s interview in order to reflect the question, finally reflecting the fact that Putin admitted to wanting Trump to win. Immediately following the summit, Trump also appeared to side with Putin over election interference.
During the rally, Trump also defended his relationship with Putin, saying:
‘We got along really well. By the way, that’s a good thing, not a bad thing.’
