Behaviors exhibited by the modern Republican party used to be something you could only find in a comedy or sitcom. What used to be seen as so ridiculous it equated to humor, has now become a normalcy that liberals of all types are having an especially hard time grasping.
Sometimes, do you ever just ask yourself if this is real life?
Well it is, and according to Miami University, it has happened again. Republican Melissa Howard, who’s running for a Florida state House seat, has found herself another seat all together. The hot seat.
Howard was accused of lying about her Bachelors degree from M.U., and quickly forced the news outlet to retract the story by citing a copy of her actual degree on her Facebook page.
Now, the University is saying that the document Howard posted on Facebook is a fake.
According to FLA News:
“After FLA News exclusively reported Tuesday that Republican State House candidate Melissa Howard didn’t have the college degree from Miami University in Ohio that she claimed to have earned, Mrs. Howard flew to Ohio Friday to prove our report wrong.”
“She posted a picture of a partial college transcript on her Facebook page and then later that day posted a picture of her sitting with her mother and holding a copy of a diploma. FLA News took her word and, despite evidence to the contrary, rescinded our story.”
“There is, however, one problem – the degree is a fake, Miami University General Counsel Robin Parker has confirmed to FLA News.”
Turns out, not only was FLA News aware of the image posted to her social media page, but so was Miami University. The report continues, “Not only were Howard’s friends and supporters looking at the picture she posted on Facebook, so were officials at Miami University. Sometime during the afternoon Friday, Howard removed the diploma pictures from Facebook as her story of earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing began to unravel.”
Howard did attend the University, but she never attained an Associates, nor a Bachelors Degree of Science in Marketing, which she claims she received. Thing is, the school doesn’t even offer that specific degree. She did, however, study retailing, which makes her a great used car salesman.
The report continues:
“FLA News asked the clearinghouse to verify its finding. After contacting the university, the clearinghouse provided a DegreeVerify Certificate that confirmed no degree had been awarded to Howard.”
Below is what they got back:
Howard’s people are calling this a clear smear tactic by her political opponent. They have released the following statement: “This is just another attempt by our desperate opponent, Tommy Gregory to lie about Melissa Howard. He lied about her being a Democrat in Ohio, which the Supervisor of Elections refuted. There’s nothing he won’t do or say to hurt Melissa or her reputation within the community. It’s shameful. Melissa graduated with a degree in marketing and we have requested her transcripts from the University and have been told they take 4-6 weeks to arrive.”
We shall see.
