Beto O’Rourke Goes Full Badass On A Skateboard In Viral Video Has Ted Cruz Wigging

-

Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) is challenging the current incumbent Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) in the 2018 midterm election, and his campaign is well underway with what is projected to be a tight race. O’Rourke has been conducting a grassroots campaign and has made stops in all 254 Texas counties so far. According to Fox 4 News:

‘SMU Political Science Professor Matthew Wilson says this sort of non-stop grind is the only way O’Rourke can position himself to win against a powerful Republican incumbent.’

O’Rourke has branded himself differently than most traditional political candidates. On Saturday night, O’Rourke posted a Facebook video of himself talking to supporters while skateboarding through the parking lot of Whataburger. On the video, he explains that a friend gave him a gift card for the restaurant while they are on the road.

As O’Rourke walked inside Whataburger, he shook a few hands and some chanted his name. He then sat down to speak with his supporters and potential voters on camera about their efforts to help the campaign. A volunteer talked about life on the road and how they have had two bus breakdowns so far and one bottle of tequila was shared by 32 people.

As of early August, the polls were still showing Cruz with an advantage over O’Rourke. A Quinnipiac University Poll gave Cruz a six-point lead while a Texas Lyceum Poll only gave him a two-point advantage.

However, O’Rourke’s enthusiasm is gaining traction and political scientists have even predicted that it could change the political landscape in Texas for years to come. According to POLITICO:

‘Cruz had the support of 49 percent of respondents, compared to 43 percent for O’Rourke, with just 6 percent undecided, according to the poll. That’s a slightly tighter race than in May, when Quinnipiac showed Cruz with an 11-point lead.’
