Michael Cohen admitted to eight counts of federal felonies. It looks as if he is headed to jail, even if he cooperates with the attorney general for the Southern District of New York (SDNY). All of a sudden, joking about prison is no longer funny.
Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer and self-described “fixer” must have thought so. After all, he just deleted one of his own 2015 tweets joking about Hillary Clinton going to prison. Fortunately, once a tweet always a tweet.
David Mack noticed that the original tweet was gone. He tweeted:
‘Michael Cohen has deleted this old tweet.’
Cohen reached a plea deal with the SDNY for federal charges including tax fraud, bank fraud, and campaign finance violations. Back when the fixer was riding high in 2015, he tweeted:
‘Hillary Clinton when you go to prison for defrauding America and perjury, your room and board will be free!’
The Trump campaign put comedian and actor Kathy Griffin through hell for her joke photo of her holding the big guy’s severed head. The Secret Service even investigated her, but she got the last laugh with “Hi Michael” and a reminder of what Cohen tweeted:
Cohen told federal prosecutor that he paid two women, who had sexual relations with Trump, hush money to influence the 2016 presidential election. The payoff occurred just weeks after the candidate’s lewd Access Hollywood tape appeared and prior to the election.
Why POTUS threw a man under the bus who could do him so much damage is a mystery. Cohen’s breaking news came out nearly simultaneously with the former Trump campaign chair, Paul Manafort’s, jury’s eight guilty verdicts. The president cannot say enough kind things about his convicted chair.
Still, he continues to beat up Michael Cohen. He tweeted:
‘If anyone is looking for a good lawyer, I would strongly suggest that you don’t retain the services of Michael Cohen!’
