Yesterday was explosive for just about everyone especially Trump and his administration, and now, the White House is in full spin mode trying to do damage control.
During probably one of the most highly anticipated press briefings ever, Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders had to walk out to the lectern and face reporters.
Of course, she said what every Republican has tried to tell reporters. Manafort’s charges have nothing to do with Trump.
‘The Manafort case doesn’t have anything to do with the president, doesn’t have anything to do with his campaign. It doesn’t have anything to do with the White House.’
There may be no charges of collusion in the Manafort case; however, that doesn’t change the fact that Manafort was Trump’s campaign chairman. He hired this guy to run his campaign for the 2016 presidential election. That’s sort of a big deal.
She also answered there were no active talks about issuing a pardon for Manafort; however, Trump tweeted Wednesday he felt “very badly” for Manafort.
‘I feel very badly for Paul Manafort and his wonderful family. “Justice took a 12 year old tax case, among other things, applied tremendous pressure on him and, unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to “break” – make up stories in order to get a “deal.” Such respect for a brave man!’
Trump’s former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen also pleaded guilty Tuesday in an exchange with the Mueller investigation. However, Sanders simply says Cohen’s deal has nothing to do with the president.
‘What I can tell you is what the president has stated a number of times: he did nothing wrong, there are no charges against him. Just because Michael Cohen has made a deal doesn’t mean anything with regards to the president.’
What? Cohen’s deal depends on his own cooperation with the Mueller investigation to provide information to investigators regarding Trump’s actions. It has EVERYTHING to do with the president.
Try again Sarah.
