Of all the impossible things that anyone could have expected to happen once Donald Trump became president, an adult film star and a Playboy Playmate bringing about the end of his presidency was never even on the list.
Yet, with the plea deal made by Michael Cohen, in which two of the charges include felony campaign violations at the direction of the candidate for president, Trump, may finally spell the end of the nightmare that began on November 8, 2016.
The developments of today will permit us to have the stay lifted in the civil case & should also permit us to proceed with an expedited deposition of Trump under oath about what he knew, when he knew it, and what he did about it. We will disclose it all to the public.
— Michael Avenatti (@MichaelAvenatti) August 21, 2018
Appearing on MSNBC’s AM Joy on Saturday, Avenatti said that the plea deal should now allow him to depose both Cohen and Trump in the civil case against his client, Stormy Daniels (Stephanie Clifford).
‘First of all, Michael Cohen pleading out in criminal case will allow the stay of civil case to be lifted and we can and will seek the deposition of Michael Cohen which I’m 100% confident will be granted, as well as a deposition of Donald Trump.’

Not only does Avenatti plan to depose both the president and his former longtime personal attorney and “fixer,” he plans to film those depositions and make them available to the public.
‘During that deposition, we’re going to have an opportunity to ask Donald Trump some very difficult questions under oath about what he knew, when he knew it, what he did about it. That and all of his conduct, criminal conduct potentially relating to the coverup…We’re going to fight vehemently to insist that the depositions are public immediately. Not just the transcript, but we’re going to ask for videotaped depositions of both individuals.’
Will Cohen's plea deal inspire real change — such as transparency rules, an end to dark money and perhaps even a rethinking of the Federal Election Commission’s structure — that could make our system more fair and more democratic? https://t.co/uZKhalgxZt

Avenatti says his plan is not about revenge or publicity, but about what the American people should be allowed to know about their current president.
‘The American public knows exactly or should know exactly what happened here. They deserve to know the truth. They deserve to know what evidence there is. They deserve to know what the president did in connection with this — and they deserve to know it all.’
