GOP Leader Calls NFL Players ‘Baboons’ & ‘Ignorant Blacks’ During Unhinged Rant

While the right loves to lob the term “snowflake” at concerned liberals, they’re the ones who have made it a pre-eminent national issue whether or not a certain comparatively small number of people stand during performances of the national anthem. A current Pennsylvania GOP officials has been revealed by her local newspaper The Times to have had racist freakout after racist freakout over black NFL players choosing to peacefully protest during the national anthem.

The Beaver County Republican Committee’s secretary Carla Maloney called the players “baboons” and “overpaid ignorant blacks.”

In one Facebook post that has since been deleted, she wrote:

‘Tired of these over paid ignorant blacks telling me what I should believe in. I will tell you what I believe in and that is our Flag the National Anthem and America period end of story… We are all Americans not African American not Hispanic American. WE ARE ALL AMERICAN.’

Nobody relevant ever said we’re not all American, and the definition of being an American does not hinge on standing for the national anthem if you happen to make it to play professional football. Maloney may prefer to ignore the issues faced by black Americans, but that doesn’t mean their sides of the American experience don’t exist or aren’t relevant.

In another post, she added:

‘Stop watching, or going to a game and paying for over priced food, water and tickets. Let’s see how the baboons get paid when white people stop paying their salaries.’

Maloney herself had no comment — county officials had told her to keep quiet — but committee chairman Chip Kohser did.

He asserted to The Times:

‘Those comments do not reflect the opinions of the Republican Party as a whole.’

He added that all of the textbook racist posts from Maloney came before she became the county party secretary earlier this year — but he did admit to knowing about the posts before she assumed her present position. He said that he “warned her to think more about what she posts because she represents the GOP.”

In her harsh criticism of NFL players choosing to kneel during the national anthem, she takes after President Donald Trump himself, who jumpstarted national conservative outrage during a late 2017 rally appearance. At the time, he called protesting players “sons of bitches” who should be fired, and in the time since, he’s kept up criticism of players through an array of public statements.

While Trump occupies himself with issues like that, Americans including some right in Beaver County continue to face harsh economic realities that his policies aren’t erasing. Since mid-2017, that county alone has lost some 191 jobs and the labor force has shrunk by roughly 1,000, according to a CNBC profile. Kohser told CNBC that the Trump tax cut bill would add a boost to his salary — but that boost doesn’t translate into a fix for the local economy. Most of the recent economic growth has been focused in Democratic areas around the country.

Throughout this turmoil and potential, though, those like Trump and Maloney prefer to just stick to their racism.
