8 U.S. States Band Together To Announce Lawsuits Against The Trump Administration

Donald Trump has been an absolute disaster for the world’s environment. He’s dropped regulations on this country’s biggest polluters and even went so far as to pull the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement. Earlier this year, he took a proverbial shot at migratory birds and now his administration will be going to court over it. The attorneys general in 8 Democratic-run states have sued his administration to try and overturn a policy that repealed certain protections for migratory birds.

What caused the lawsuit is a legal memo from the Department of the Interior that said the agency would no longer punish people or companies who kill or hurt birds in an “incidental” way, which previously would have caused a fine under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. The change to the law is a gift to companies from the Trump administration to ensure they won’t be held responsible if they commit heinous acts against the environment.

Several states are pissed off about Trump’s gift, so the attorneys general from California, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico and Oregon, have filed a case in the Manhattan-based District Court for the Southern District of New York to combat it.

New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood said in a statement:

‘In yet another giveaway to special interests at the expense of our states, the Trump administration has gutted the Migratory Bird Treaty Act — eliminating longstanding prohibitions on injuring or killing over 300 species of migratory birds that provide critical ecological, scientific, and economic value to New York’

There are absolutely no lengths that the Trump administration will not go to in order to hurt the environment and help rich people get even richer. Trump has not only been a disaster for our country, but he’s very dangerous to the entire world in general.
