Mueller Ruins Trump’s Day With Big Subpoena Announcement That Has Donald Spiraling

-

Since last May, Special Counsel Robert S. Mueller has been conducting an investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Mueller and his team have already subpoenaed a long line of people and garnered indictments or guilty pleas from 32 individuals and three companies. The largest turning point in the Russia investigation came when both former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and attorney Michael Cohen were each found guilty on eight charges, and gave testimony incriminating Mr. Trump.

On Wednesday, Mueller subpoenaed another individual – Jerome Corsi, a conspiracy theorist and political commentator with connections to the former Trump adviser Roger J. Stone Jr. Corsi is expected to testify on Friday before the grand jury as to whether Trump associates conspired with Russian officials to interfere in the 2016 election.

According to The New York Times:

‘The lawyer, David Gray, said that he anticipates that investigators for the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, plan to ask Mr. Corsi about his discussions with Mr. Stone, who appeared to publicly predict in 2016 that WikiLeaks planned to publish material damaging to Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.’

Gray said:

‘He fully intends to comply with the subpoena.’

He went on to explain that the subpoena was not specific about the topic, but he speculates that “it has to do with his communications with Roger Stone.”

Mueller’s team seems to be focusing on Roger Stone as a link between the Trump campaign and WikiLeaks, which was used by Russian intelligence officers to spread information stolen from Democrats. This was according to an indictment by Mueller’s team. In addition, another former associate of Stone’s, Randy Credico, will testify before the grand jury on Friday.

The Times reported:

‘Mr. Stone has maintained that he had no contact with Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, and that he learned what WikiLeaks was doing through public sources and from Mr. Credico, who had a friend in common with Mr. Assange.’

Mr. Corsi has also worked with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones on his Infowars operation. It has said that Jones has dealt with Roger Stone on and off for many years. Corsi was one of the people whom Mr. Trump (before he became president) contacted for information about former President Barack Obama’s birth certificate concerning whether or not he was born in the United States.

British professor and author Ted Malloch was stopped and detained at a Boston airport last March, and was asked by federal investigators about Roger Stone, WikiLeaks, and Jerome Corsi who had helped to edit one of his books.

According to The Times:

‘In testimony before the House Intelligence Committee last year, Mr. Stone, who had predicted in a 2016 tweet that Mrs. Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta, would face his “time in the barrel,” said he based his tweet off research given to him by Mr. Corsi, whom he identified as an investigative journalist. He said that Mr. Corsi’s research was drawn from public information related to Mr. Podesta’s brother, the lobbyist Tony Podesta.’

Podesta’s private email account was also hacked in 2016 and some of the content was exposed by WikiLeaks in October 2016. At the same time, the now-infamous Access Hollywood tape was obtained where Mr. Trump was caught telling television host Billy Bush in 2005 that he could grab women by the genitals and do anything he wanted to them.
