Brett Kavanaugh came into the hearing room loaded for bear. He was intermittently combative and tearful. It was an uncomfortable performance. Not surprisingly, he blamed someone else for his problems.

Donald Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court claimed that the Democrats were opposed to him due to their “revenge on behalf of the Clintons:”

‘This whole two-week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election, fear that has been unfairly stoked about my judicial record, revenge on behalf of the Clintons and millions of dollars in money from outside left-wing opposition groups.’

He aggressively turned on the Democrats after showing the Republican senators’ allocated prosecutor deference and said:

‘This is a circus. The consequences will extend long past my nomination; the consequences will be with us for decades.’

All throughout his testimony, Kavanaugh turned on the Democrats who have openly opposed him. So much for impartiality and dignity of the Supreme Court.

He said that they had destroyed his family. The woman who testified before him and alleged he sexually molested her and she feared would accidentally kill her, Dr. Christine Blasey Ford never made that claim. Certainly her life has been difficult with many threats of violence, including death.

Kavanaugh’s lengthy opening statement was filled with verbal attacks on the Democrats, saying they had called him “your worst nightmare” and “evil.” In addition, he said these committee Democrats would:

‘Threaten the lives of millions of Americans for decades to come. I would say to those senators: Your words have meaning. Millions of Americans listen carefully to you. Given comments like those, is it any surprise that people have been willing to do anything, to make any physical threat against my family, to send any violent email to my wife, to make any kind of allegation against me and against my friends, to blow me up and take me down? You sowed the wind for decades to come. The whole country will reap the whirlwind.’

The president defeated Hillary Clinton during the 2016 presidential election but continues to bring her up. Apparently, Trump’s second nominee has been following his lead.
