Sexual Assault Hotline Receives Record Number Of Calls As Dr. Blasey Ford Testifies

The scars from a sexual assault are horrible enough to last a lifetime. People who have been attacked in the past often need the help of professionals occasionally and today was one of those times. The National Sexual Assault Hotline reported that a record number of people had called their hotline while Dr. Christine Blasey Ford testified about the attack she suffered at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

The Rape Abuse and Incest National Network (RAINN) tweeted that there had been an estimated jump of 147 percent above normal contact volume. Those are unprecedented numbers.

Sadly, there were so many calls for their online chat services that they had to start suggesting other places people could receive assistance.

RAINN also announced that the call volume had jumped 42 percent this past weekend as more reports were released about the Kavanaugh nomination.

Sexual assault in no joke. It’s a very serious matter and something that no one should ever have to endure. When the survivors hear about others who have suffered, it often brings back the nightmares they went through. After the New York Times and the New Yorker first released their explosive reports on Harvey Weinstein, RAINN said they faced a big jump in the number of callers too…but not this high.

Although at least 4 people have come forward and accused Brett Kavanaugh of attacking them, that doesn’t seem to faze Republicans at all. They’re still planning to go through with a vote on his confirmation tomorrow morning. It’s a disgrace that will stain their party forever. It’s certainly a mistake in the eyes of their voters who will see that they care nothing about women, or the attacks they face every single day. Hopefully, voters will make them pay dearly for their misogynistic decision in November.
