Two Men Come Forward To Take Fall For Kavanaugh; Say They Sexually Assaulted Dr. Ford

If there is any rule among sexual abuser perpetrators, it is deny, deny, deny. No matter how many witnesses, no matter how firm the recollection, no matter the “credibility” of the victim, abusers stick to their denials and only around six percent of them ever spend any time in jail for their crimes. It’s worked for them for years.

Somehow, though, the GOP surprised everyone by finding not one, but two men who have come to them willingly to say that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, of sexual assault, is suffering from a case of mistaken identity. These two men both say they are the real perpetrators of the sexual assault she has finally spoken up about, and Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee have already spoken with them.

According to Time:

‘The timeline, released the night before Ford and Kavanaugh are set to publicly testify in front of the committee, reveals that between Sept. 24 and Sept. 26, two men claimed to be responsible for “the encounter” with Ford “that is the basis of her allegation.” Ford said Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed, covered her mouth and tried to remove her clothes at a house party in 1982. Two other women have also come forward with allegations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh. The judge has denied claims by all three women.’

The assault in question happened in the state of Maryland, where there is no statue of limitations for sexual assault. Somehow, though, Republicans managed to drum up two men willing to admit to the Senate that they perpetrated that assault on a 15-year-old girl.

‘According to the timeline, committee staff interviewed the first man who said he believes he attacked Ford on Sept. 24. They spoke to him again on Sept. 25 and said in the timeline that he “described his recollection of their interaction in some detail.”

‘The man on Sept. 26 sent a “more in-depth written statement” to the committee. That same day, the committee’s investigative staff spoke on the phone with another man who said he had attacked Ford in 1982.

‘“He explained his recollection of the details of the encounter,” the timeline says.’

Both men say they were with the other teenaged boy from Dr. Ford’s statement, Mark Judge, when the incident occurred. However, the Senate Judiciary Committee has not subpoenaed and hasn’t mentioned speaking with Judge himself about any of this.

The “confessions” come one week after legal activist and Kavanaugh ally Ed Whelan claimed that Dr. Ford had mistaken the identity of another man for Kavanaugh, and then proceeded to name the other man to accuse him publicly of sexual assault with absolutely no basis for doing so, according to Vox.

‘Using a map of homes surrounding the Columbia Country Club (near where both Ford and Kavanaugh attended high school) and floor maps available on the real estate website Zillow, Whelan argued that based on Ford’s statements of what happened that night back in 1982, the perpetrator was likely not Kavanaugh. Instead, he pointed to a classmate of Kavanaugh’s at Georgetown Prep who, in Whelan’s view, looked a lot like Kavanaugh.

‘In doing so, he shared the address and room layout of the classmate’s childhood home, photographs of the classmate, and the classmate’s full name.’

Whelan has since retracted his statement, deleted his tweets, and apologized for the “mistaken identity” story.
