Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) was the one who gave Donald Trump the nickname of Cadet Bone Spurs, because he had five deferments to avoid going to Viet Nam with other men his age. The first four deferments were for education, but the fifth was because the president of these United States had a doctor’s note that claimed that he had bone spurs. Oddly enough, the president could not remember which leg it was. Then, Duckworth had a few more strong words for Trump.

Naturally, the senator was appalled when Cadet Bone Spur said that his handmaiden and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-CA) deserved to “get the Medal of Honor,” the highest civilian award available. She told The Hill that Trump’s remarks were insulting “(to) real Medal of Honor recipients.”

‘I don’t care who you are. Never insult real Medal of Honor recipients with your fake hyperbolic rantings.’

In another tweet, she pointed to Michael J. Novosel, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for conducting a medical evacuation while under fire during the Vietnam War:

‘This is Mike Novosel, a real MOH recipient who I was honored to call my friend. He lies at rest in ARLINGTON’s sacred grounds. His headstone reads simply “A good Soldier.”‘

When the Black Hawk helicopter the future senator was piloting during Operation Iraqi Freedom combat missions was hit and crashed, she lost both of her legs. President Barack Obama appointed the Army Lt. Colonel veteran to director of the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs in 2006, then-assistant secretary in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Trump went on about Nunes:

‘Maybe we’ll call it the Medal of Freedom because we actually give them, the high awards for civilians.’

Duckworth earned the Purple Heart for her service to this great country and became the first woman with a disability to earn a seat in the Senate. She was also the first woman to give birth while she was in office and to bring her baby to work on the Senate floor.

Twitter world was outraged, too. Check out some of our favorites below:
