The midterm elections are just two weeks away, and Democratic candidates are getting powerful boosts from politicians in high places. On Saturday, former Vice President Joe Biden made a stop in Las Vegas strongly criticizing Trump’s policies, and rallying people to vote for Democrats. On Monday, former President Barack Obama also made a stop in Nevada.
Obama encouraged rallygoers in Nevada to get out and vote early for Democrats. Without naming Mr. Trump, Obama took a strong jab at him saying:
‘Unlike some, I actually try to state facts.
‘I believe in fact. All right? I believe in a fact-based reality. And, a fact-based politics. I don’t believe in just making stuff up.’
"This is a fact. This is not — unlike some, I actually try to state facts. I believe in fact. All right? I believe in a fact-based reality. And, a fact-based politics. I don't believe in just making stuff up," former Pres. Obama says at a campaign rally. https://t.co/0wP7P1xCg6 pic.twitter.com/l9t5sIpYjl

Mr. Trump has continued his lies and conspiracy theories on a daily basis, and the so-called president’s latest wild conspiracy theory is that the undocumented immigrants traveling in a caravan to the United States have “unknown Middle Easterners” among them.
According to CNBC:
‘President Donald Trump on Monday escalated his attacks on the caravan of migrants making their way to the United States from Honduras, calling the situation a national emergency and declaring without evidence that “Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in.”‘
‘I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy.’
After misspelling the simple word “emergency,” Trump wrote on Twitter:
‘Every time you see a Caravan, or people illegally coming, or attempting to come, into our Country illegally, think of and blame the Democrats for not giving us the votes to change our pathetic Immigration Laws! Remember the Midterms! So unfair to those who come in legally.’
Republicans including Trump are shaking at this point as Democrats are likely going to sweep the House on election day, and although it is unlikely, it is not out of the realm of possibility for Democrats to also gain back control of the Senate. Therefore, Trump is going to pull out every lie and conspiracy theory imaginable in order to convince his supporters that it is truth.
Obama delivered a strong speech in Nevada though, calling on Democrats to “restore some sanity to our politics.” He spoke:
‘warning darkly of demagogues who “promise to fight for the little guy” and then “start undermining institutions essential to our democracy.”‘
Obama told the crowd:
‘There are states where Republicans are actively purging voter rolls right now. This kind of politics is not conservative. It’s radical.’
‘Booing doesn’t help anyone. Voting helps.’
The former president also took credit for an economy that was growing when he left office. He said:
‘By the time I left office, wages were rising, uninsurance rates were falling … and that’s what I handed off to the next guy. So when you hear all of his talk about economic miracles right now, remember who started it.’
Obama won Nevada during both of his 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns, and Hillary Clinton also carried the state in the 2016 election.
