Just months before Donald Trump was elected, a foreign policy expert went to him to explain what he needed to know about nuclear weapons. The almost-president was not a great learner. Yet, that was not the reason this expert came out of their meeting shaken. It was due to what Trump asked him — three times.

MSNBC’s host of Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough explained what happened. He said:

‘Several months ago, a foreign policy expert on the international level went to advise Donald Trump. And three times (Trump) asked about the use of nuclear weapons. Three times he asked at one point if we had them why can’t we use them.’

Trump gets an idea in his head and never lets it go. Unfortunately, most of those ideas have been 30 years old.

Senator Tammy Duckworth, the woman who was piloting a U.S. Black Hawk when it was shot down, has a nickname for POTUS — Cadet Bone Spurs. Her point was that people who have never been to war enjoy playing generals in real wars, but they are not very good at it. Trump got out of going to the Vietnam War along with the tens of thousands of men his age who died, with five deferments; four for education and one for bone spurs. Of course, he could not recall which leg and played sports at military school.

Now, Trump is hot to build up the country’s nuclear arsenal and is dropping out of the ever-important U.S.-Russia Nuclear Arms Treaty. The pretend soldier said that he planned to build up our arsenal “until people come to their senses,” according to BBC:

‘It’s a threat to whoever you want to include China and it includes Russia and it includes anybody else that wants to play that game… (Russia has) not adhered to the spirit of that agreement or to the agreement itself.’

Then, there was the recently appointed military hawk, U.S. National Security Adviser John Bolton. Even he has been actively working with Moscow to smooth things over, especially after Russia condemned Trump’s intention. The Russians told Bolton that the U.S. withdrawal would be a “serious blow.”

Russia’s Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev added that the Kremlin was “ready” to correct “mutual” grievances also said the Kremlin was “ready” to work with the US to resolve the “mutual” grievances over the nuclear treaty. They also said that they would work to maintain nuclear power equality should Trump drop out of the treaty.

Spokesperson for the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov warned:

‘We need to hear the American side’s explanation on this issue. Scrapping the treaty forces Russia to take steps for its own security.’

President Ronald Reagan and U.S.S.R. President Mikhail Gorbachev signed the INF treaty as the  Cold War came to a close. The purpose of the treaty was to prevent a war that would end the world. It forbade nuclear and conventional ground-launched medium range missiles with a 310-3,400 mile range. China was not a member of the treaty.

Gorbachev warned Reagan that should the U.S. ever withdraw from the INF treaty, Russia would halt nuclear disarmament and start up manufacturing again. Fortunately, Reagan was wise, and Americans realized continued progress along the nuclear armament path really did mean the end of the world.

U.S. officials claimed that Russians have already broken the treaty. They have build a new medium-range missile, the Novator 9M729, which Nato calls the SSC-8. The weapon allows Russia to hit Nato countries with little advance notice.

Naturally, Putin denied that the missile broke the treaty. Yet, according to Nato, Moscow failed to offer any “credible answer:”

‘The most plausible assessment would be that Russia is in violation of the treaty.’

Trump has already pulled out of the Iran Nuclear Treaty.
