Donald Trump calls the traditional media “Fake News.” He was condemning the pillars of the communications industry, newspapers and television news outlets that police themselves rigidly. Yet, the president calls them the “true Enemy of the People.” Why?

He has incredibly thin skin, and his idea of the press is Fox News — especially Sean Hannity. These members of the media fawn over POTUS, and he eats it up, just as he takes in the fake adoration shown to him by cruel dictators around the world. Yet, the real news irks him to no end. He just tweeted:

‘There is great anger in our Country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news. The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open & obvious hostility & report the news accurately & fairly. That will do much to put out the flame…’

What Trump apparently does not understand or refuses to understand is that the news’ job is to hold the president, any president accountable. The man currently sitting in the Oval Office hates to be held accountable.

No, he wants to make up stories and statistics and create lies out of thin air every day, multiple times. Then, he expects the news to ignore that and gush over his so-call great economy and accomplishments. Never mind that President Barack Obama saved the country from certain financial disaster and started the economy on its current trajectory.

Trump wants the press to ignore the caged immigrant children, the ban on Muslim immigrants, and his hate-filled rhetoric that gins up his followers to the point of inciting violence in some cases.

Writer for The New Yorker, Maggie Haberman retweeted Trump’s inaccurate morning tweet simply yet powerfully:

‘It is being reported accurately.’
