What better could a president of the United States do on Halloween night besides send out videos of immigrant mass murderers to send his racist fanbase into paroxysms of terror? As if he hasn’t already done enough damage with his fear-mongering around the group of hungry, brave people headed to the U.S. border, damage that ended with 11 Americans dead at the Tree of Life Jewish Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Trump is doubling down.

On Wednesday, Trump tweeted a video of undocumented immigrant Luis Bracamontes, who killed two police officers. The president skipped over the very white Trump supporter who sent pipe bombs to Trump’s tweeted list of enemies and the white man who entered that synagogue and killed 11 people and shot four police officers.
Trump’s desperate attempts to plant fear ahead of the midterms has ended with a mass shooting and the military being used as a political ploy to stoke Trump’s rabid supporters. As he tweets lie after lie about the people headed to the border, the more radical members of his voting base have caused anti-semitic attacks to rise to unprecedented rates. He’s inspired torch-carrying members of the alt-right to publicly proclaim “Jews will not replace us” and murder counter-protesters standing against hate.
We have nothing to fear from the group of people headed to our border, trying to find a better life for their children. We have everything to fear from the man who actually has the power to hurt us and inspire others to do so.
