13 News Organizations Join Jim Acosta & Make Wednesday Anti-Trump Announcement

Donald Trump doesn’t seem to understand that the First Amendment guarantees us freedom of the press. In fact, his war on the media in general, and Jim Acosta in particular, has caused CNN to file suit against the White House. Now thirteen other news organizations are stepping forward to back CNN’s play. They issued a joint statement on Wednesday in support of CNN’s lawsuit against the Trump administration over its decision to revoke White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s press credentials.

The Associated Press, Bloomberg, Fox News and The Washington Post, First Look Media Works, Inc., Gannett, National Press Club Journalism Institute, NBC News, The New York Times, Politico, Press Freedom Defense Fund, E.W. Scripps Company, and USA Today Network say in the statement that they’re going to file a friend-of-the-court brief to back CNN up in court. In part, their statement said:

‘Whether the news of the day concerns national security, the economy, or the environment, reporters covering the White House must remain free to ask questions.

‘It is imperative that independent journalists have access to the President and his activities, and that journalists are not barred for arbitrary reasons. Our news organizations support the fundamental constitutional right to question this President, or any President.’

A federal judge has already scheduled the first hearing in the case and if he rules in CNN’s favor then Acosta will have his press credentials returned immediately. As one can imagine Donald Trump is furious and vows to fight the lawsuit. Apparently he cares nothing for one of this nation’s bedrock freedom’s…the freedom of the press. No one should be surprised at his lack of decorum though considering it’s obvious that he really doesn’t care about much of anything but making money. It’s like he’s not even an American.
