As Donald Trump lounges at Mar-a-Lago in gold-plated rooms, babies and children are being hit with tear gas at the U.S. border to appease Trump’s racist fanbase. Trump has convinced them that they face grave danger from the migrants fleeing violence and poverty. Instead, it is their lives in danger as they seek asylum and a better life for their children.
The New York Post reports that:
‘U.S. Customs and Border Protection closed a section of the southern border with Mexico on Sunday and fired tear gas at a group of migrants that tried to breach a fence separating the two countries.’
Trump has stated that his goal is to force the group to remain in Mexico, and many who began their journey to the U.S. border have done so and are currently housed in a sports arena with similar conditions to that of Hurricane Katrina survivors in the Superdome. None of them will be able to apply for asylum in the U.S. since current laws state that they must either be inside the country or at a port of entry to do so.
US Border Patrol has just launched tear gas into Mexico. Breeze carrying it hundreds of yards. Parents running away with choking toddlers. #migrantcaravan

Chris Sherman, an Associated Press reporter on the scene, has been live-tweeting events from the border. His horrifying reports include speaking with families trying to help their babies and children recover from burning eyes and breathing difficulties thanks to the tear gas.
The Guardian reports that:
On Sunday several hundred migrants, mostly men, pushed past a blockade of Mexican police near the crossing. The migrants carried hand-painted American and Honduran flags and chanted: “We are not criminals! We are international workers!”
Their human rights are also being violated as they experience even more violence thanks to Trump’s fear-mongering.
Ana Zuniga, 23, from Honduras cradled 3-year old daughter with red burning eyes. “We ran but when you run the smoke smothers you more.” Said US agents began launching gas when migrants opened small hole in concertina wire at bottom of Tijuana River. She didn’t see anyone get thru
