Trump Has Nuclear Meltdown During Psycho Tuesday Afternoon Diatribe

General Motors (GM) just gouged the middle-class by killing off more than 14,000 high-paying jobs. Donald Trump made a big deal about saving the people’s jobs and hauling the giant corporations back into the U.S. of A. Apparently, that did not work out as well as he had intended. Unfortunately, Trump could have prevented this terrible blow to the country’s economy.

The big companies that bend the legislation to suit their needs via lobbyists and campaign contributions seem to miss the obvious: when there are no jobs in this country, there are no purchases. Now, POTUS could turn to the stock market and point out the initial seven percent leap when the news hit. His only solution was to tweet:

‘Very disappointed with General Motors and their CEO, Mary Barra, for closing plants in Ohio, Michigan and Maryland. Nothing being closed in Mexico & China. The U.S. saved General Motors, and this is the THANKS we get! We are now looking at cutting all @GM subsidies, including….

‘….for electric cars. General Motors made a big China bet years ago when they built plants there (and in Mexico) – don’t think that bet is going to pay off. I am here to protect America’s Workers!’

First of all, General Motors did not have to move off-shore. They could have retooled (retrofitted) their manufacturing plants to accommodate some of the company’s more popular vehicles.

GM told a lie — that Americans’ preference for different cars or falling oil prices caused the corporation to abandon its birthplace.  No, the corporation wanted to make more cars for less money, so it has taken advantage of the monetary differences between Mexico or China and the U.S. There are 20.5 pesos to the American dollar, meaning a huge labor profit in Mexico. There, the cost of living is far, far lower, so it works to make lower wages. The same holds true in China.

General Motors just rang the death knell for the labor unions that protect their workers’ health and their wages and for all the down line businesses. Those range from stamping manufacturers, to car seat manufacturers, to cafes.
