Throughout the week, one Mueller bombshell after another has dropped. The president’s former campaign manager was found to have violated his plea deal by lying to prosecutors, appears to have been working as a Trump mole inside the investigation, and Trump admitted he will consider pardoning him. Meanwhile, another Trump stooge, Jerome Corsi, king of the birther lie that pushed Trump to the forefront of political attention, admitted lying to those same prosecutors.
It’s been quite a week, and Trump is feeling the pressure.
The “search for a crime” didn’t take long. So far, there have been 35 indictments in the Mueller probe along with six guilty pleas. In addition, Mueller has handed two other criminals, Michael Cohen and Sam Patten, to other prosecutors, both of whom have pleaded guilty to a total of nine separate criminal charges.
If Mueller is running a witch hunt, there have certainly been a lot of witches to find.
Trump’s question about the $40 million he alleges that has been spent by the Mueller team so far, whether or not that is “possible,” can be answered by Trump’s tweet from just 24 hours prior to his Thursday morning rant.
Somehow, Trump expects the public to believe that Mueller spent $10 million in a single day. As time goes on, that amount will increase rapidly every time Trump tells the story.
If Trump would like to see some examples of an investigation in search of a crime, perhaps he could take his “whataboutism” defense and look at the eight separate investigations into Hillary Clinton’s role during Benghazi, each of which turned up absolutely no crimes.
Twitter was quick to remind Trump that his lies have already been exposed. See some of their comments below:
