Donald Trump just cancelled, via Twitter, his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Check out his excuse/s below:

Trump is blaming Russia’s refusal to release Ukrainian Navy ships and sailors that were seized on Sunday, during a maritime spat between the two countries. People on Twitter aren’t buying it:

However, it is no coincidence that news broke this morning about Trump’s personal fixer, Michael Cohen, pleading guilty to lying to Mueller’s team in regards to knowledge about a Trump project in Moscow. Originally, Cohen had told investigators that talks about the Moscow project wrapped up in January 2016, well before the Iowa caucuses; It was brought to light today that during Cohen’s guilty plea, he admitted that talks went well into the Trump’s presidential campaign. This is a huge problem for Trump as it proves that he was engaged in business deals with with Russia, which could have in turn interfered in his favor, helping him get elected.

The Twitter announcement was swift and the timing of the cancellation and news breaking about Michael Cohen are clear indicators that Trump would likely rather give his attention to the Mueller investigation news, instead of taking care of business and being the strong leader that the United States needs. The president has been under fire all week long for his weak approach at dealing with the Russia and Ukraine drama from the weekend.

It’s been a bad, bad week for the Trump administration, with the ongoing US-Mexico border crisis, the hostility between Russia and Ukraine, the Mueller investigation moving along with tornado-like speed and now, his cancellation with Putin, using a bogus “reason” as an excuse. With the barrage of Trump tweets the past 48 hours, it is clear that Trump is unstable and not fit to handle all of the heat.

Let us also remember the Helsinki meeting and the ensuing disaster. Maybe it’s a good idea that he isn’t meeting with Putin; Rather there be no leader at all present, versus a super-weak one.
