Donald Trump likes to know what is going on around him. How likely would it be that his eldest father-pleasing son, Donald Trump Jr. would forget or neglect to tell the president-to-be about his infamous meeting with the Russians? After all, Trump Sr.’s office was just one floor above the room where the group met and the boss was in. Why was Trump so incurious?

In an exclusive, CNN reported that the president told Special Counsel Robert Mueller he knew nothing in advance about the meeting. Not only that, POTUS had heard nothing from his friend Roger Stone about WikiLeaks and the stolen Clinton emails.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller has been investigating the Russian attack on the 2016 presidential election and potential conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Moscow.

In addition to the president’s son, several other top members of Trump’s campaign were also at the meeting with the Russians, who promised dirt on Hillary Clinton. Both campaign chief Paul Manafort and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner attended the meeting, too. Would not one of them mention the meeting to Trump Sr., even in passing?

Under oath, Don Jr. told members of Congress that his father did not even know about the meeting. The president’s son claimed he just set it up  to find out what dirt they had on Don Sr.’s opponent, Hillary Clinton. The son’s attorney declined to say whether his client had talked to Mueller’s team.

POTUS tweeted that he knew nothing of the infamous Trump Tower meeting that his eldest son, Donald Trump, Jr. organized in 2016. :

‘I did NOT know of the meeting with my son, Don Jr.’

The second major news in the CNN report was that Trump wrote in answer to Mueller’s question that Stone did not inform him about the upcoming WikiLeaks dump of Clinton emails.

The special counsel also requested all of Donald Trump’s call logs and visitor logs that included Stone. Apparently, this surprised Trump’s legal team. After all, Stone told the network that he had not been contacted by Mueller’s team.

Stone has made his livelihood finding dirt on candidates and considers himself something of a trickster. He claimed that he had no advance information about when or if WikiLeaks would release the stolen Clinton emails:

‘I never discussed any of this with Donald Trump. It’s one of the questions that Mr. Mueller wants the President to answer — one of the written questions. I’m highly confident that his answer will be that he knew nothing about it. We just never discussed it.’

Stone’s denial matches with what Trump told Mueller: that the two never spoke about WikiLeaks.

Trump also reinforced what Stone claimed, indicating that the two men had never discussed Wikileaks. He said, according to The Associated Press:

‘When WikiLeaks came out … never heard of WikiLeaks, never heard of it. When WikiLeaks came out, all I was just saying is, ‘Well, look at all this information here, this is pretty good stuff.”‘

CNN legal analyst Carrie Cordero said:

‘It’s well-documented how frequently he (the president) says or tweets false things, and there’s no criminal exposure for that. The difference is, if he lies in his statement to federal investigators, he is potentially exposing himself to criminal liability, assuming he attested to the accuracy of the information.’
