In the next step of the normalization of white supremacy in American culture, now we have actual government officials spouting white supremacist propaganda and talking points on live television.
On Fox Business, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) spoke with Stuart Varney and spouted off pure conspiracy theories invented long ago by the likes of Alex Jones and Glenn Beck. Gohmert said:
‘George Soros is supposed to be Jewish but you wouldn’t know it from the damage he inflicted on Israel and the fact that he turned on fellow Jews & helped take the property that they owned.’

The conspiracy theory Gohmert vomits out of his piehole is the theory that George Soros, who is Jewish, was actually a Nazi co-conspirator during the Holocaust and helped kill his fellow Jewish brothers and sisters.
Of course, this is absolute crap. Anyone with any common sense and an ounce of decency would realize it’s an untrue figment of a demented person’s imagination. However, many have latched on to the theory to wave it around as proof that Soros, a liberal, is the embodiment of pure evil.
Soros was a teenager during the Holocaust and worked as a courier. The Nazis would demand he deliver messages to Jewish individuals. After being ordered to deliver a message to several Jewish lawyers to meet in Budapest, Soros actually warned them of their impending arrest and quit his job. According to the Washington Post:
‘One day, Soros was ordered to deliver messages to several Jewish lawyers in Budapest, according to the biography, “Soros: The Life and Times of a Messianic Billionaire.” The letters instructed the lawyers to report to a rabbinical school, but Soros realized they would be imprisoned upon arrival. He warned them of their danger, according to the book, and quit his job with the council after carrying out the errand.’
It’s obviously a ridiculous conspiracy theory that surrounds a man who is also accused of owning Black Lives Matter and funding the caravan of refugees that has been accused of invading the United States. However, some of the top officials and celebrities of the Republican party have fallen for the theory and have promoted it over social media and on the air.
Along with Gohmert, Donald Trump Jr. retweeted the Roseanne Barr tweet that accused Soros of the same. That tweet led to Roseanne’s demise after outrage spread through social media. However, Lil’ Don Don approved. Barr tweeted:
‘… By the way, George Soros is a nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth-were you aware of that? But, we all make mistakes, right Chelsea?’
Along with these tweets regarding Soros’ status as a possible Nazi, the president of the United States actually tweeted a video that many have touted as absolute proof that Soros funded the migrant caravan.

Furthermore, he said at a rally in Montana:
‘But a lot of money has been passing to people to come up and try and get to the border by Election Day, because they think that’s a negative for us. … They have lousy policy. The one thing, they stick together, but they wanted that caravan and there are those that say that caravan didn’t just happen. It didn’t just happen. A lot of reasons that caravan, 4,000 people.’
To Varney’s credit, he tried to move the segment along after the craziness that came out of Gohmert’s mouth. However, had Gohmert been speaking to Sean Hannity or Tucker Carlson, he would have been given a soapbox.
