There is only one mainstream “news” source that considers Donald Trump a credible source on almost anything, and that is Fox News. There are also few very people who consider Geraldo Rivera a credible source, but one of those people appears to be the president.
After a week of damning revelations for the president from the three sentencing memos issued for Michael Flynn, Michael Cohen, and Paul Manafort, Trump is desperate to convince his base of supporters not to believe what they’re hearing and reading. After a Friday Twitter meltdown that attempted once again to discredit Mueller and his team of prosecutors, the publicly-released documents made the possibility of Russian collusion by the 2016 Trump presidential campaign even more a viable allegation.
The truth is that much of the information in the three sentencing memos regarding what Flynn, who was a member of the Trump transition team, Manafort, who was in contact with the Trump administration even into 2018, and Cohen, who had an insider view of everything during and after the campaign, is unknown. Quite a bit of it was redacted because it involves an ongoing investigation. The fact that, after two years, the investigation into Russian collusion is ongoing means that it either has not been ruled out or has already been proven to investigators and is undergoing follow-up and tying up loose ends.
Geraldo can collude with Trump to gaslight America all he likes under the First Amendment protections afforded by the U.S. Constitution, but what he’s saying, and what Trump is tweeting, is entirely inaccurate.
