On Saturday, in his usual fashion, Trump took to Twitter to insert himself into France’s political business once again when he tweeted:

‘Very sad day & night in Paris. Maybe it’s time to end the ridiculous and extremely expensive Paris Agreement and return money back to the people in the form of lower taxes? The U.S. was way ahead of the curve on that and the only major country where emissions went down last year!’

This tweet came after Trump made statements to the press regarding the Paris Climate Agreement and France, when he said:

‘Protests and riots all over France. People do not want to pay large sums of money, much to third world countries (that are questionably run), in order to maybe protect the environment.’

Trump also had the audacity to claim that during the protests people were shouting: “We want Trump!!” Evidently, he got that idea from one of his favorite “journalists,” Charlie Kirk of Turning Point USA, claimed he heard people chanting it in a tweet that Trump of course re-tweeted last week.

It appears now that France has had enough of Trump’s antics, because today French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian released a statement demanding that the “president” stop interfering in his country’s politics. Le Drian said:

‘We do not take domestic American politics into account and we want that to be reciprocated. I say this to Donald Trump and the French president says it too: leave our nation be!’

Somehow I doubt this will keep Trump quiet, but maybe he might surprise us and treat our ally with a little more respect from now on.
