While President Donald Trump sticks to his tweeting and insistence that he’s enacted some sort of utopia, the real world proceeds. This Friday, Sandy Hook Elementary School was evacuated and students were sent home for the day after the school received a bomb threat on the anniversary of the 2012 mass shooting that left 20 children and six teachers dead.

There’s not any immediate apparent word as to the origin of the threat, which was delivered via a call to the Newtown Police Department. Local authorities searched the premises but have indicated that they do not believe the threat was credible.

The incident comes the day after a spate of bomb threats rocked North America, targeting businesses, hospitals, and beyond.

Like the issue Sandy Hook faced this Friday, there’s not any apparent immediate word as to the interest or interests behind those hundreds of threats, some of which were phoned in while others were emailed.

The threats of violence come as the United States continues to grapple with the more specifically gun violence epidemic that Sandy Hook found itself in the middle of those years ago. This year, there have been a number of high profile mass shootings, like the incident that claimed 17 people’s lives at Florida’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and the later one that claimed a dozen lives at a bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

Altogether, 13,820 Americans and counting have lost their lives to gun violence incidents this year and over 26,000 have been left wounded. There have been some 331 mass shooting incidents — almost enough for one for every day of the year so far.
