The Republicans have been itching to kill ObamaCare (ACA/Affordable Care Act) ever since it passed. Donald Trump hates everything that President Barack Obama accomplished, and that includes ObamaCare. The ACA was what 44 believed was the premier legislation of his two terms. Yet, health insurance is so confusing. President Obama took all the complicated talk, tossed it out the window, and explained health care in simple terms.
President Obama told us that Saturday, December 15, 2018 was the last day to enroll in ObamaCare, but there were two exceptions:
‘Today (December 15,2018) is the last day of open enrollment. That means it’s the deadline to make sure you and the people you love have health insurance in 2019. So head over to http://HealthCare.gov to get covered! Here’s what else you need to know today about health care…’
Then, Obama updated his tweet:
‘There are two things you need to know today about health care.’
The first was the deadline and links to health care alternatives, if you missed that deadline. The second thing that President Obama wanted the American people to know was:
‘You might have heard about a federal court decision on a Republican lawsuit trying to strike down the Affordable Care Act in its entirety.’
Fortunately, our 44th president was able to reassured us.
‘Since the 2019 Open Enrollment Period is over, you can now enroll in or change a Health Insurance Marketplace plan only if you have a life event that qualifies you for a Special Enrollment Period.’
Then, there are the children’s and others’ health care programs at this site:
‘Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provide free or low-cost health coverage to millions of Americans, including some low-income people, families and children, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities.’
As President Obama said, the judge’s ruling will work its way through the courts. Pre-existing conditions, children on parents’ plans until they are 26, and preventive care are all still covered.
