Because this is apparently all just a show to him, this Thursday ahead of signing the farm bill President Donald Trump took to Twitter to tout the move with a ridiculous video clip.
The bill in question includes funding for ranchers and farmers across the United States and for food assistance programs — and it comes as the government faces the looming possibility of a shutdown at the end of Friday thanks to a lack of approved funding. The House and Senate came together to produce a funding provision that was available to the White House Thursday, but the administration dug into their position that Congress should provide billions of dollars in funding for a border wall and rejected it.
That didn’t stop Trump from treating the situation as a joke, however.
He posted a video to his personal Twitter profile of an appearance he made at the Emmys a number of years ago when he revived the opening credits sequence of the old show Green Acres. He even sang part of the theme song.

The farm bill itself stays pretty close to standard, excluding past Republican aims like tougher work and overall eligibility requirements for food stamps, otherwise known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
It does, however, include a number of noteworthy developments like slashing hemp from the federal Controlled Substances Act, which will essentially legalize cultivating the industrial crop across the United States.
Ironically enough though, the United States Department of Agriculture is responsible for executing the latest Farm Bill — and that department will shut down this weekend unless Republicans and Democrats can come together for long enough to keep the government open.
