Kellyanne Conway Goes On ‘Fox News Sunday’ & Humiliates Herself In 8 Cringy Seconds

The federal government has now been partially shutdown for a week and counting, as President Donald Trump continues to refuse to approve any funding without provisions for the border wall he’s long sought and Democrats refuse to cede to his baseless demands for a racist vanity project. Still, the Trump team maintains that the shutdown is the Democrats’ fault, adamantly refusing to acknowledge that maybe their wall isn’t so needed after all.

This weekend on Fox News Sunday, longtime Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway performed that exact stunt, going after incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) for leaving D.C. although members of both parties have done so.

Conway exclaimed:

‘First the Democrats need to come back. Nancy Pelosi needs to come back from Hawaii. Less hula, more moola for the [Department of Homeland Security], Customs and Border Patrol, and funding our border security. They need to come to the table and do their job. A fully functioning democracy demands that both parties come together and that the Congress and the executive branch work together.’

That’s great! Conway should come back when she’s managed to get her boss to acknowledge that principle instead of behaving like a schoolchild at lunch who’s shut down the whole operation until he gets the pudding he wants.

Watch her commentary below.

Pelosi, for the record, will be back in D.C. as the new week dawns. No Congressional leaders of either party were in D.C. when Conway had her on-air meltdown, although the president has remained in the capital as negotiations continue to stall and is as adamantly committed to his line as ever.

Despite his efforts to depict a crisis, undocumented border crossings have continued their overall downward trend over time, and there remains no evidence for the claim the Trump team continues to trot out that immigration over the southern border presents some kind of special threat. They’ve claimed that authorities apprehend some 10 known or suspected terrorists a day attempting to cross over from Mexico, but that’s actual fake news. In reality, authorities encounter roughly seven people a day associated with a terror watch list over all ports of entry to the United States coming from anywhere.

There are no “unknown Middle Easterners” who have decided to go to Central America and try their luck at sneaking into the United States through the bushes.

Despite this and other issues, the Trump team still refuses to cede their position.

Democrats have insisted they’re perfectly willing to fund border security — just not a wall. The administration hasn’t even used the vast majority of border security funding that had been approved for the previous fiscal year despite the fact that they want more.

Conway and her associates’ stance proves a political ploy that’s holding most of the U.S. government hostage. Hundreds of thousands of government workers are indefinitely out of the job, while hundreds of thousands more are working without pay. President Trump has claimed without any apparent justification that the workers either support his efforts for a wall or are Democrats.
