Donald Trump has called the media the enemy of the people. Today, he called out one of the major newspapers in the country as “Failing.” He has done this before. The question is: with all the force of the presidency of these United States behind him, does Trump have the right to try to discredit one organization by name when it questions him?

The man currently sitting in the Oval Office has attacked numerous businesses by name. That could easily ruin a corporation. Fortunately, The New York Times (NYT) gets business when Trump gets on its case, and this was an important message to get out.

Why was the Donald mad at the NYT now? It wrote an article about what Trump has been doing in Syria and the military’s role in general. Trump called it “a very inaccurate story:”

‘The Failing New York Times has knowingly written a very inaccurate story on my intentions on Syria. No different from my original statements, we will be leaving at a proper pace while at the same time continuing to fight ISIS and doing all else that is prudent and necessary!…..’

The president had a conversation with the strongman leader of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and the next morning Trump announced that he was pulling all the 2,000 U.S. military troops out of Syria. Not only did all of his military advisers argue against such an ill-advised move, our allies the Kurds would be crushed between Erdogan’s military and the Islamic State (IS). Erdogan considers the Kurds terrorists, but they are not.

The NYT reported that Trump’s impulsive announcement created the need for the military’s role to be debated:

‘President Trump’s decision to withdraw American troops from Syria surprised allies and enemies alike, and prompted public disagreement from military and civilian leaders. But the ensuing debate about the role of the United States military may be long overdue.’
