Life outside on the White House grounds is just as contentious as it is on the inside sometimes. White House Counsel to the President Kellyanne Conway continued the Donald Trump feud with CNN’s Jim Acosta outside on the North Law driveway. Then, the fireworks started.

The two met on the driveway surrounded by a wall of microphones and other reporters. Acosta took the opportunity to ask her a question about the president’s primetime address regarding his border wall, CNN reported:

‘(Could Conway) promise the president will tell the truth tonight?’

The attorney who is nearly the only original member of Trump’s staff answered the reporter:

‘Yes, Jim. And will you promise that you will?’

Acosta responded with a comment probably meant to provoke Conway:

‘I will, absolutely. I’m not the one with the alternative-facts problem like you do.’

Challenging Conway about fact-checking POTUS finally got her to respond hotly:

‘Let me go back to your case because you’re such a smartass most of the time, and I know you want this to go viral.’

The top Trump aide went on to defend her comment about the White House using a misleading statistic. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders appeared on Fox News stating that 4,000 known or suspected terrorists had been caught at the Mexico-U.S. border. At the time, Fox News challenged her numbers, and Sanders backtracked. She said that they came in via air, land, and sea.

The president’s counsel called Sanders’ comment an “unfortunate misstatement.”

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection data, a mere 12 people were stopped between October 2017 and 2018. That does not mean they were arrested, only stopped. Their name could be the same as a person on the feds’ list, or some other issue.

Conway went on telling Acosta:

‘I explained it many times. And don’t you put it back in my face for all the corrections that your network has issued.’
